The Prayers of Sinners
There is a false teaching among many religious groups today about God’s hearing and answering the prayers of sinners. The Bible is very plain on this subject. God will not listen to the prayers of those in rebellion to Him.
In the book of Psalms, David said, “The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry. The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil…” (Psalms 34:15-16). It is also written “If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear” (Psalms 66:18). Those who rebel and reject God, even their prayers are an abomination (Proverbs 28:9).
Sin is a hindrance between God and man. For God to hear one’s prayers, that hindrance must be removed. How does one remove sin? Ananias said “…arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name” (Acts 22:16). When one is baptized for the forgiveness of sin and hindrance is removed, God hears one’s prayers.
