Five Facts About Heaven
Heaven is a real place and not simply a state. In John 14:3, the Lord Jesus said, And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Since Heaven is a real place, please consider five facts about this place called Heaven.
The apostle Peter called it an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you (1 Peter 1:4). In this verse of Scripture we find the following five facts about Heaven:
Fact One: Heaven Is an Inheritance
An inheritance is something that one does not yet possess but is looking forward to. An inheritance is also something which a person does not produce for himself. He receives it from another. Heaven is an inheritance for those who are begotten of God unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Fact Two: Heaven Is Incorruptible
This means that Heaven is not like the earth on which we now live because it does not decay.
Fact Three: Heaven Is Undefiled
That means that heaven is pure and unsoiled and will only be inhabited by those who are pure and unsoiled from the world (1 John 3:3).
Fact Four: Heaven Does Not Fade Away
Heaven is perpetual. It is unlike earthly possessions that are here today and gone tomorrow. In other words, Heaven is eternal. The human mind cannot truly comprehend eternity because we live in a time conscious society. But eternity is like time but without beginning or end. It is like a circle. One cannot put his finger down and say it begins or ends at that place. It is measureless and infinite. It is the habitation of God (Isaiah 57:15).
Fact Five: The Inheritance of Heaven Is Reserved for You
God is there and His presence insures that Heaven is a safe and peaceful place. In earthly terms, the word reserved means that only certain ones have a right to that which is reserved. The same is true of the heavenly inheritance. It is reserved for the faithful and pure of heart (Matthew 6:19-21).
Yes, Heaven is a real place. Only the righteous will inherit Heaven. Is there a place reserved there for you?
