Are We Asking The Right Question?

#ShoutYourAbortion is the latest ‘trend’ on social media. Not long ago it was homosexual ‘marriage’. Soon it might very well be pedophilia as is currently practiced in places in the Middle-East.

But are these things wrong? What should we think? Where do we go?

We must start by asking the right question. The question in back of all these other questions is, who determines what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong?’

Or, is there any Ultimate Source for Morality?

To feel the impact of the question we could say it like this:

Whatever argument is used to ‘prove’ that homosexuality is okay, or that abortion is fine, one may, by the same logic successfully argue that pedophilia is okay.

The fact is, one must appeal to SOME authority. If the authority is of human origin, then human laws are what determines if something is “okay.”

If human laws are the ultimate authority, then anything that humanity deems ‘right’ is therefore right.

If one nation determines that a thing is ‘right’ then that thing is ‘right’ for those under the authority of that nation.

For instance:

In the United States homosexuality is ‘okay’ in the eyes of the US government.

 So the argument then is:

If the US Government approves of homosexuality, then homosexuality is therefore “okay” for those under US authority.

The US government approves of homosexuality

Therefore homosexuality is ‘okay’ for those under US authority.

Or…

If Yemen’s government approves of pedophilia then pedophilia is therefore ‘okay’ for those under Yemen authority.

Yemen’s government approves of pedophilia

Therefore, pedophilia is okay for those under Yemen authority.

 Or… (Thinking back to history)

If Jewish lawmakers deemed Jesus of Nazareth worthy of death and therefore crucified him, then his death was therefore a “justified” death.

Jewish lawmakers deemed Jesus of Nazareth worthy of death, and therefore crucified him.

Therefore, his death was a ‘justified’ death.

 Or… (Still thinking Historically)

If Germany’s government deemed Jews, Christians and black people, worthy of death, then the deaths of Jews, Christians and black people were justified deaths.

Germany’s government approved of destroying Jews, Christians and black people,

Therefore, the deaths of Jews, Christians and black people were justified deaths.

All of these are proved by the exact same logic, and the same appeal to ‘human law’ being the ultimate source of authority.

Or…

If on the other hand, the killing of innocent babies, or the killing of Jesus of Nazareth, the killing of Jews, Christians and black people is wrong, or if pedophilia is wrong, then they must be wrong by some law OTHER than laws created by humanity.

If you argue that they are wrong because of some “higher” law. Then you must explain what that Higher law is. If this “higher” law is of human origin, then you must explain why one specific human law is able to dictate to all other human law?

If on the other hand, the authority is greater than human law, you must admit that there is a source greater than human law.

You must then explain what source/who this ‘higher’ law is. If the source is greater than human law, one must submit to what this authority says about all things pertaining to morality. Or they must explain why this ‘law giver’ would condemn one action that he deems ‘evil’ (pedophilia, murder of innocents etc)… but condone other actions which he also deems ‘evil.’ (homosexuality etc…).

There is no way to consistently argue one while denying the other.

The Ultimate Authority is God, I urge our readers to find a copy of the New Testament and study it to find out what He has to say about all issues, moral, physical and spiritual.
