A Personal Year-End Review

It seems like 2014 has just gotten started and here we are looking at 2015.  At Truth For The World we like to do a year-end review.  This helps to keep us on track, and it encourages us to continue moving forward in our service to God. If you did your own review, how would this past year look to you?

Was 2014 a good year for you? Was it filled with happiness?  If so, did you remember to give thanks to your heavenly Father for the blessings?  Often we forget to give honor where honor is due.    Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods (Psalm 95:2-3).

Was 2014 a prosperous year for you? Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him… (1Corinthians 16:2). Did you remember to give back to God every week as He has prospered you?  Were you truthful in your giving or did you hold back?  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38)

Was 2014 a particularly difficult year for you? Was it filled with struggles, loss, hardship and pain? If so, did you call on your heavenly Father for support and strength in your time of struggle?  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).  Take comfort in the knowledge that while God did not bring about your difficulties He is very much aware of your pain.  As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him (Psalm 18:30 ASV).

Did you spend time in personal study working on your relationship with God?  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you (James 4:8).  However your year went, you are now a year closer to the time when you will be face to face with the Father.   Do not face Him as a stranger. Do not face Him as one who has known Him but chose not to be obedient.  Face Him as a faithful servant pure and holy through the blood of His Son.

If you are like me, you feel like you could have done better in many of these aspects. As we go forward into 2015 I imagine that most of us have room to improve in our relationship with Him.  May the new year bring you much happiness, and prosperity.  May your struggles be few and may you be strengthened through the few struggles that you endure. But most of all, may you grow closer to your heavenly Father and may you be an inspiration to others to do the same.
