In December 1982, two families left the United States to begin a new work in Taiwan. Those two families were the Roger Campbell and John Grubb families. After completing language studies, Roger and I began a new work in the city of Taichung, Taiwan.
During the early years of this new work, we were teaching a great number of people the gospel. In our constant discussions concerning the methods we were using to preach the gospel, we discovered that the teaching method we were using to teach our prospects was almost identical.
At that time, we put together a simple outline of that material. Later on, I expanded the outline and had that outline translated into Chinese. Brother Campbell also produced a reduced size outline of this material that brethren could use.
In this effort, it will be my purpose to put this material in a word for word form that brethren can use to teach their non-Christian friends. I hope that this material will also help to encourage brethren to
grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
The apostle Paul and the apostle Peter urged us to prepare ourselves to teach the truth. Paul wrote:
prove all things; hold fast that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Peter added:
but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15).
These lessons will include things that we need to understand in order to go to heaven and also we will want to teach others so that they also might go to heaven. It is my hope and prayer that this material will be of assistance to brethren all over the world in reaching the lost for Christ.
